Ah, winter. The season of cold wind, ice-covered driveways (for the North-facing among us) making soups and tinkering about in the house, back in Minnesota at least. There the folks get the hybernative feeling to just go inside, bake pies & casseroles, binge-watch the tube, read books or play gin & have a toddy or two. We would emerge in April, squinting at the sun and waving at the neighborfolk; so pale-white we were nearly blue, pasty and corpulant by the accumulation of 5 months of the afore-mentioned indoor activities & indulgences. Here’s what that might sound like: “Oh hey there, Marge, oh yeah lovely day eh? Marge, have you seen Harvey Schmidlap? Oh, sure you betcha, winter was good to Harvey, eh? Oh yeah he and June had enough rhubarb to make a ton of pies! Oh the heck, hahaha…” And on it would go, on and on and on. Here in Colorado we’re a little different, we use winter like a sloop uses a sail – it’s somewhere between half and all of the reason most of us live here! So by the time spring arrives we’re ready to hit the campgrounds, the roads and the trails!

Yes, friends, it’s time to shake it off and start thinking about exterior projects that you DON’T HAVE TO DO YOURSELF! Your home has been through a lot this winter—wind, snow, ice, and the occasional slap from a rogue tree branch. It deserves a little TLC, and let’s be honest, you don’t really want to do it, do you?

Look, we know it’s tempting to put off exterior work a little longer—maybe convince yourself that this year you really will get to it, it’s not that big after all. Or, that ‘weathered and rustic’ is a look, a real pro-active design choice. But trust us, ignoring your outdoor surfaces now is like skipping sunscreen at the beach… you’ll regret it later! Besides, we’d rather you call us for painting than hear you tried to do it yourself and ended up in a viral ‘DIY Fail’ video.

What’s On/What Should Be On Your Spring To-Do List?

Pressure cleaning your house, deck, outbuildings, driveway & patios (ps: we can clean the gutters out while we’re washing)

Exterior paint check-up

Carpentry/wood replacement

Deck and fence staining

Lime wash or schmear for tired brick or stone

Remember those pesky wasp nests and those woodpecker holes? Let’s get those corrected before the critters return!
